"The Pink Ribbon" by James Christensen

Breast cancer awarenessAn Artful Way to Help Find a Cure: James C. Christensen's The Pink Ribbon When I met my sisters last October in Phoenix, I was attending the Cowboy Artists Show. They had flown across country to join thousands walking across 60 miles of Arizona desert to raise money for research and awareness in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Breast cancer has touched not only my family, but many in our extended Greenwich Family as well.

Inspired to act, we at The Greenwich Workshop approached James C. Christensen with the opportunity and challenge of creating a painting that expresses both the need for awareness about breast cancer and the complexity of its affects on families and communities. And the painting needed to convey the strength and hope one finds in resolving and confronting the matter. The art needed to encompass all of this while honoring the inherent beauty and individuality of women, a respect and admiration that shines through in Christensen's figurative work. He created The Pink Ribbon.

During October, Greenwich Workshop Fine Art Dealers across the country will be hosting breast cancer awareness events in their galleries, and will be selling an Open Edition Print of The Pink Ribbon, as well as a Fine Art Limited Edition Canvas signed by the artist. The Greenwich Workshop will donate funds from each edition to breast cancer awareness and research on a national level while our Fine Art Dealers will be supporting efforts in their own communities. The more we sell, the more we raise.

Above and beyond that, you can enter to win the original painting The Pink Ribbon when you register your e-mail address on our website at www.greenwichworkshop.com/pinkribbon or by returning the completed postage-paid card enclosed.
