LORI FAYE BOCK

ARTIST STATEMENT

One of the things that has brought a great deal of satisfaction to me in my career as an artist is in the instances where viewers of my work respond with smiles and laughter.

I want my images of animals, their expressions and my titles to radiate emotions of tenderness, innocence, playfulness and a longing to be loved.

My menagerie of cats, dogs and sheep have taken the place of children. Perhaps because of this, my paintings tend to incorporate human-like qualities, emotions, surroundings and situations.

Vivid color, animal imagery, humor, text, geometric shapes and textural underpainting are all characteristics of the claywork I created for so many years.

In addition to painting animals, I recently decided to broaden my repertoire by incorporating still lifes consisting of ordinary, but beautiful objects and perhaps a cat or dog peering out from behind a couch or from behind a fish bowl.

The more people observe my images, the greater understanding they will have that my daily life is encompassed with experiences directly and indirectly related to a bevy of domestic and farm animals.

My paintings are a demonstration of my love and appreciation for animals and for the ordinary and extraordinary things in life.
